Manchester United have issued a statement saying they do not condone violence of any kind after, Mason Greenwood, was accused of sexual assault and domestic violence by his ex-girlfriend, Harriet Robson.

In a series of posts on social media, Robson shared horrific photographs and videos of injuries she claims the footballer inflicted on her. Some of her gory images on Instagram show cuts and bruises she sustained when Greenwood allegedly forced himself on her.

Another photo she shared showed bruises on her thighs while one showed blood flowing from her mouth down to her chest. Robson also shared an audio to prove Greenwood did what she accused him of doing.

She captioned the images: “To everyone who wants to know what Mason Greenwood actually does to me.”

Reacting to the allegations, Manchester United said it was aware of the allegations but would not comment until ‘the facts have been established’, while police said they are looking into it.

The Old Trafford side made it clear that they are aware of “images and allegations” that appeared on social media regarding the 20-year-old striker.

On Sunday morning, a spokesperson for United said that the club “does not condone violence of any kind”.

The statement in full reads: “We are aware of images and allegations circulating on social media. We will not make any further comment until the facts have been established. Manchester United does not condone violence of any kind.”

Greater Manchester Police have also launched investigations to establish the circumstances – leaving Greenwood’s career and reputation in the balance. A statement from GMP said: “Greater Manchester Police is aware of images and videos circulating on social media. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”

United are set to host Middlesbrough in the FA Cup on Friday, but it remains to be seen if Greenwood will be considered for selection. A graduate of Man Utd’s academy, Greenwood has scored 35 goals in 129 appearances for the club.

The Red Devils are next in action on February 4, when they take on Middlesbrough in the FA Cup.
